Ripper Hot Rod Hire is proud to announce the arrival of Bernie the Bus.

For a truly unique, nostalgic experience on your special day, go ahead & make a statement, step back in time, why not arrive in an extremely rare 1942 Chevrolet Suburban Mini Bus.

Bernie is extremely versatile with the capability of carrying seven passengers, Bernie can transport the entire bridal party or alternatively the Bride & Groom may decide to travel in front of Bernie on their own in one of our Hot Rod’s.  Bernie, could also be used to transport the parents of the Bride & Groom to the ceremony & home again as a part of the wedding package

This rare vehicle offers a timeless ride, which is available for School Formals, Wedding packages or that Special occasion.

A little History on "Bernie the Bus"

Bernie was brought into Australia from Canada in 1942 by the RAAF to be commissioned as an Ambulance but thankfully never saw any action.

Bernie sat idle in a paddock, at the RAAF base in Melbourne until the mid 1980’s where a Gentleman visiting from Adelaide bought Bernie from the RAAF & restored him to his current beauty. This gentleman purchased Bernie as he has a courier business which used Chevrolet trucks, using Bernie as his family vehicle and occasionally for delivery of parcels.

Bernie was used extensively, traveling Australia towing a 16” caravan, which the Adelaide man also built.

In 1999 Bernie was used as a club vehicle participating in many Bay to Birdwood Rallies , due to Bernie’s performance he was know as “Gus the wonder Bus”. This is where Fiddy Customs first sighted & approached the gentleman & his family & proceeded to purchase Bernie, again to be used as a promotional vehicle for Fiddy Customs drag racing & hot rod custom vehicles & spare Parts in Perth.
